How to Join the SCV
The SCV requires members to have an ancestor who served honorably in the Confederate Armed forces. The first step to find this out is to research your family tree to see which of your ancestors might have been Veterans. The first step is to talk to your family members to see what information they have. From that you can continue the search. The links below are sites that can assist you. Once you have found an ancestor who was of the right age, you can begin to look for a list of service on the NPS site as well as others. Due to the percentage of Southern men who served, if your family is from the South, chances are you have a Confederate ancestor back there somewhere.

Here are two forms that you might find useful. The first is a sample SCV application. This is for your resource use, an official Application will have to be used to join. Also there is a form for you to start recording your Family Tree. Different Camps may have different requirements for documentation, so be sure to make copies of what ever you find and use.
